The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (“CETA”) is a free-trade agreement between Canada and the European Union. CETA was signed on October 30, 2016 and approved by the European Parliament on February 15, 2017, and while it has not come into force yet, when it does, it is expected to eliminate 98% of the tariffs between Canada and the European Union. Since full implementation of CETA requires ratification by all Member States of the European Union, both parties are expected to apply CETA provisionally starting September 21st, 2017. This could mean that starting this year, both sides could see the immediate benefits, and challenges, of CETA.
The Conference showcases highly qualified speakers from different countries to present on their respective national laws related to transactions involving their jurisdictions as well as on broad issues relevant to international M&A transactions.
