In light of the recent bribery investigation in Sweden, Martin Aquilina, an international business lawyer at HazloLaw – Business Lawyers, was interviewed by the National Post to comment on the matter.
The following is an excerpt from the National Post article:
Martin Aquilina, an international business attorney and chief operating officer of HazloLaw Business Lawyers, said companies doing business in countries with rampant corruption like Azerbaijan need to be ready to walk away from deals where officials expect bribes. In the age of smartphones, digital records and increased enforcement, companies are more likely to get caught than ever, he said.
“You really have to have a zero-tolerance stance for that sort of thing,” Aquilina said. “You really have to have that all-or-nothing approach.”
